Camp Good Grief is a day camp for children ages 8-17. The experience combines fun and adventurous activities with grief education and emotional support, all facilitated by Hospice of Michigan grief professionals and trained volunteers.

At Camp Good Grief, children will find comfort in the knowledge that there are others who have experienced a similar circumstance and can relate to the way they are feeling. At Camp Good Grief, children have the opportunity to address their feelings, remember their loved ones and create friendships that last long after camp is over.

How does a grieving child benefit from an experience like Camp Good Grief?

  Camp Good Grief 7
  • Grief can be a lonely experience for a child. Camp Good Grief allows a grieving child to be with other children who share the same feelings and learn that they are not alone.
  • The feelings that come with grief can be intense and overwhelming, and some children may question if they are “going crazy.” Camp Good Grief helps children understand that the way they are feeling is normal.
  • Grieving children have an opportunity to address their feelings and remember their loved ones through a variety of activities including arts and crafts, physical activities, team-building and canoeing. Throughout camp children are encouraged to express their feelings in ways that are constructive and can help them heal.
